Will Traditional Marriage Become A Mental Disorder?

God's Plan for Marriage

This is the week we celebrate our Independence from tyrannical rule.

Unless you’ve been on an island without any access to news or current events, you’ve noticed we have several wars going on…..right here, in this country. We have a War on Coal; War on Jobs; War on Parents Rights; War on Terror (maybe); War on taxpayers by the IRS; War on Children; War on our Privacy; War on the Constitution; War on the Press; War on Sugar; War on Christians; War on Big Gulps; War on French Fries; War on the First, Second, and Fourth Amendments; and a War on Traditional Marriage, just to name a few. If they can’t legislate it, they’ll bury it in regulations.

According to the powers that be, if you don’t agree them, they’ll try to silence you….the powers that be have used public humiliation and ridicule as tools of silencing you. They have attempted to have people declared to have a medical condition of a mental illness or as they say a mental disorder in order to silence people. They will try to isolate their opponents to try to make them irrelevant. Some have the belief that if they present the lie often enough and loud enough, then it becomes the truth. The same people don’t believe in absolutes. Darkness can not exist in the light.

The Supreme Court recently decided to let each state establish its own definition of marriage in the California Prop 8 matter. No matter how many times, or how loud some people shout, the Biblical definition of marriage will not change. It is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Biblical definition of marriage is one man and one woman united as one.

Dissenting from the Supreme Court’s opinion on the Defense of Marriage Act, Justice Antonin Scalia – as expected – held nothing back:

In the majority’s telling, this story is black-and-white: Hate your neighbor or come along with us. The truth is more complicated. It is hard to admit that one’s political opponents are not monsters, especially in a struggle like this one, and the challenge in the end proves more than today’s Court can handle. Too bad. A reminder that disagreement over something so fundamental as marriage can still be politically legitimate, would have been a fit task for what in earlier times was called the judicial temperament. We might have covered ourselves with honor today by promising all sides of this debate that it was theirs to settle and that we would respect their resolution. We might have let the People decide, but that, the majority will not do.

Some will rejoice in today’s decision and some will despair at it. That is the nature of a controversy that matters so much to so many. But the Court has cheated both sides by robbing the winners of an honest victory, and robbing the losers of the peace that comes from a fair defeat. We owed both of them better. I dissent.

Considering the recent changes in the DSM and the current increased use of the medical condition of a mental illness as a weapon against their opposition, will Traditional Marriage soon be considered a mental disorder? Only time will tell. No matter how many times, or how loud some people shout, the Biblical definition of marriage will not change. It is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Biblical definition of marriage is still one man and one woman united as one.

Whether or not America has a future worth having, doesn’t depend on what happens in Washington, D.C., or on what happens in the Supreme Court, or in the Congress. It depends on what happens with you, and people just like you; your family, and families just like yours; and your church, and churches just like yours with godly pastors after God’s heart and church members thirsting for God’s Word. Our future is in His hands (Psalm 121:1-2).

Independence Day is a wonderful day to reflect on the precious freedoms we enjoy in this great country. It is a day to give thanks to our Almighty God whose hand has surely been upon this nation. And it is day to commit anew our resolve to pray for spiritual revival to sweep across our nation. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission

As we celebrate the winning of our Freedom from tyrannical rule, we are reminded that Freedom comes with a price. To remain free takes constant vigilance. To remain free requires us to reject any form of tyrannical rule, wherever it might come from. Our Founding Fathers ensured that we have the Right to disagree. Some today want that Right only allowed to those who agree with them….or they’ll drone you?

Enjoy your Freedom. Remember the cost it took to get it and it takes to keep it.

  1. I don’t think traditional marriage will become a mental disorder just as freeing black slaves did not result in enslaving whites or giving women equal rights did not result in taking rights away from men. Politics is an unruly animal and is separate from our own personal beliefs. In the end it is our personal journey that we will be held accountable for, don’t you think? Political decisions are one thing and how we live our individual lives are another thing all together

    • I think our politics are influenced by our core standards and beliefs. As people move farther away from Biblical standards they find more excuses to justify their behavior. If you couple this article with the previous one “Stepping Up Use Of New Old Weapons” you’ll see that the DSM was changed to make virtually every emotion a mental disorder. Mental Health as been, and is being used as a weapon by some to silence their opposition. There is an assault on traditional marriage, as there was on removing the Ten Commandments, on referring to Christmas trees, and removing prayer from schools. Politics is an unruly animal when God is removed from it. God does things decently and in order. The devil is the author of confusion. Put God first in everything, just as our Founding Fathers did and politics won’t be an unruly animal.
