STEPPING UP USE OF NEW OLD WEAPONS

This is a follow-up to my previous article “New Old Weapons of Destruction Rediscovered” where I talked about the rediscovery of an old weapon of using the medical condition of a mental illness by some in power to advance their agenda. Their premise is simple – silence the opposition by any means necessary.

The practice of silencing opposition is not new. We understand that it routinely happens in China, as it did in the old Soviet Union. Although there are no known living witnesses, it probably happens in North Korea as well. We don’t expect and don’t find acceptable that it would happen in the USA.

In a case that exposes a government system that is targeting military veterans, a Marine “was jailed and held for the comments he made on Facebook – comments that expressed a dissatisfaction with the present direction of the U.S. government.”

The civil rights action names as defendants members of law enforcement and the government who were involved in last year’s episode, August 16, 2012, where Marine veteran Brandon Raub, 27, was arrested by a swarm of FBI and Secret Service and forcibly detained in a psychiatric ward for a week.

He was later released when a judge concluded the case against Raub was “so devoid of any factual allegations that it could not be reasonably expected to give rise to a case or controversy.” The lawsuit claims Raub’s seizure and detention were part of a plan executed by the Federal Government called “Operation Vigilant Eagle.” This is a program to do surveillance on military veterans who express views critical of the government.

Raub’s attorneys claim the attempt to label him as “mentally ill” and authorities’ efforts to involuntarily commit him into custody was intended to silence his criticism of the government. However, they explain the strategy also violated Raub’s First and Fourth Amendment rights. “Brandon Raub is not the first veteran to be targeted for speaking out against the government. Hopefully, by holding officials accountable, we can ensure that Brandon is the last to suffer in this way.”

Raub, a Marine who has served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, uses his Facebook page to post song lyrics and air his political opinions. What did Raub say that incurred the wrath of the Federal Government?

In one of his postings, he said “The United States was meant to lead the charge against injustice, but through our example not our force. People do not respond to having liberty and freedom forced on them”.

This article is not just about Brandon Raub but also about calling any emotion a mental disorder and the indiscriminate use of Big Pharma drugs …both being used as effective weapons on him and others.

In May of 2013, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) released its fifth Diagnostic Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) superseding the DSM-IV published in 1994 and revised in 2000. The new “psychiatry bible” has been criticized by many as a testament to the insanity of the industry itself. Virtually every emotion experienced by a human being—sadness, grief, anxiety, frustration, impatience, excitement—is now being classified as a “mental disorder” demanding chemical treatment with—you guessed it—pharmaceutical drugs.

Ironically, one of the DSM’s harshest critics is Allen Frances M.D., professor emeritus from the Department of Psychiatry at Duke University who was chair of the DSM-IV Task Force.

“DSM-5 opens up the possibility that millions and millions of people currently considered normal will be diagnosed as having a mental disorder and will receive medication and stigma that they don’t need,” said Frances. “This is the saddest moment in my 45-year career of studying, practicing, and teaching psychiatry. [The] approval makes it likely that DSM-5 will start a . . . dozen or more new fads which will be detrimental to the misdiagnosed individuals and costly to our society.”

The DSM is now larger than ever, and it includes Orwellian disorders such as “obedience defiance disorder” (ODD), defined as refusing to follow authority. Rapists who feel sexual arousal during their raping activities are given the excuse that they have “paraphilic coercive disorder” (PCD) and therefore are not responsible for their actions. You can also get diagnosed with “hoarding disorder” if you happen to stockpile food, water and ammunition, among other things. Being prepared for possible natural disasters now makes you a mental patient in the eyes of modern psychiatry.

The entire industry of psychiatry has become such a laughing-stock that even many supporters of the industry are turning their backs in disgust. To many scientists today, psychiatry is no more “scientific” than astrology or palm reading, yet its practitioners call themselves “doctors” of psychiatry in order to sound credible.

DSM added FIVE new categories for children….

Just in time for the official release of the American Psychiatric Association (APA)’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that 20 percent of U.S. children are now among the ranks of those considered to have mental illness. And once DSM-5 gets into the hands of doctors and psychiatrists in the coming months and years, this percentage will only further increase.

For at least the past 10 years, the framework defining mental illness has been steadily expanding. This means that more and more people who were previously considered to be healthy are now considered to be mentally ill. Conditions like attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, depression, and even common anxiety are increasingly being diagnosed, particularly among children between the ages of three and 17.

Doctors are diagnosing them as mentally ill, and the consequence has been a huge increase in pharmaceutical drug use. CDC claims that nearly one-quarter of a trillion dollars is spent every year treating children for mental disorders that they may or may not actually have. And between 1994 and 2011, the number of children being diagnosed with mental illness has skyrocketed inexplicably.

Are children really more mentally ill today than they were 20 years ago? Perhaps. Probably this dramatic rise in both diagnoses and prescription drug use has to do with the unreasonable expansion of criteria for determining mental illness in the first place. This, along with heavy influence from Big Pharma in getting more children medicated, and appears to be the real driving factor behind this mental illness “epidemic.”

Many people do not get the important nutrients needed for good health. Some say that children are at once overfed and undernourished, and a poorly nourished body contains a malnourished brain.

The alarmed critics of the Ritalin disaster are now getting support from an entirely different side. The German weekly Der Spiegel quoted the US American psychiatrist Leon Eisenberg, who was the “scientific father of ADHD” and who said at the age of 87, seven months before his death in his last interview: “ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease”

The Swiss National Advisory Commission on Biomedical Ethics (NEK) commented on the use of the ADHD drug Ritalin that the consumption of pharmacological agents altered the child’s behavior without any contribution on his or her part. That amounted to interference in the child’s freedom and personal rights, because pharmacological agents induced behavioral changes but failed to educate the child on how to achieve these behavioral changes independently. The child was thus deprived of an essential learning experience to act autonomously and emphatically which “considerably curtails children’s freedom and impairs their personality development”, the NEK criticized.

Having all this information would lead you to believe that cash profits and control are the big winners as some people’s lives are ruined when the medical condition of a mental illness is used as a weapon. This is further exacerbated by the concept that doctors would be required to enter a person’s mental health issues into a national database without due process or knowledge to the patient. This database would then be relied upon to deny people jobs, housing, the ability to protect oneself, or the pursuit of happiness.
